Parkersburg is a city in Butler County, Iowa, United States. The population was 1,870 in the 2010 census, a decline from 1,889 in 2000. Parkersburg, although not the county seat, has the highest population of all the cities in Butler County.
Officials say the scammers identify themselves as a member of local law enforcement, even using the names of real detectives, and demand payment in the form of gift cards to avoid being arrested on a warrant.
