Farmington is a town located in the northern part of Ontario County, New York United States. The population was 11,825 at the 2010 census. Farmington is about 25 miles southeast of Rochester, New York. The town was named after Farmington, Connecticut.
Officials say the scammers identify themselves as a member of local law enforcement, even using the names of real detectives, and demand payment in the form of gift cards to avoid being arrested on a warrant.
